This afternoon was the cross-river rival girls soccer game. Sometime in the last few years, this has become a fund raising opportunity for breast cancer. The teams wear special jerseys, and in CHS's case, socks, and at the end of the day, there is money to donate to breast cancer. (I'm very foggy on the details, so that's really all I know about the fundraising part. This wasn't something Chelsie's team did when she played for LHS.)
This game holds more interest than most, because many of the girls on both teams have played for several seasons on the same traveling soccer team. Also, several of the girls are LDS, and know each other from Girls Camp, Trek, Youth Conference and youth dances. It is really fun to watch them on the field competing against each other, really battling it out, then afterwards, giving each other hugs, and apologizing for accidentally hitting one another.:) Sadly, LHS came out on the short end. It was a good game, the refs let them play, and the comraderie at the end was great.
This game holds a little more meaning for me this year, as my former sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She caught it early, has a treatment plan, is staying positive and has a good support system of friends and family. I truly wish her all the best. I think she will appreciate knowing this game was played in support of women like her, battling in a different way, but like the soccer girls, hoping for a check in their win column.

| Kristin and one of her former teammates, now rivals. You can see they misspelled our last name on her jersey. That hasn't happened for a long time, so I guess it isn't surprising. |
 |
| They even played with a pink soccer ball. |

| Kristin with the throw in. One of those L's has her name on it. |
 |
| With her really good friend and tough competitor, Addie, after the game. |
