After many months, it FINALLY came! Trevor's Eighth Birthday was on July 17th and he couldn't wait. Why was he so excited, you may wonder. Well, 3 big things happened to him because of this birthday.
First, he finally is a cub scout. He has his Wolf book and has completed his Bobcat requirements already and is ready to roll. He's already been to one den meeting and looking forward to the next - a visit to a museum in town.
Exciting thing #2 was his birthday party. Not so much as a result of his 8th birthday, as just the fact that it is a birthday party year, he had a great time with 11 friends (10 boys total and 2 girls). They got to swing at a pinata, play "Don't eat Pete", eat cake and ice cream and watch the movie "Flushed Away". All in all it was a great day. Amber made his cake, we all covered the pinata, and the girls blew up balloons to help decorate. I can safely say, there wouldn't have been a party without all of their help. I think Trev considered it a great success.
And finally...exciting thing #3 was that he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His dad baptized and confirmed him. Grandma Sollenbarger flew up for a few days before and a few days after. Grandma and Grandpa Rietz came over and Grandpa stood in the circle when Trev was confirmed. We missed Grandpa Sollenbarger who stayed behind in Denver. :-(
We made it to the river twice this week, but are still waiting for the "perfect" day on the river. It has generally been pretty windy, and at times a little on the chilly side. Kudos to Grandma Solly for being a good sport and going with us for Family Home Evening while she was here. You can guess that evening was one of the not-so-warm times.
The rest of us, mere mortals that we are, didn't have exciting things like that happen to us, but fall is on the way, and that means a new school year, a new college student, fall sports and many new adventures....we'll keep you posted.
